Within the activities of the cultural season of the Environmental Research Center, an assistant teacher, Nour Ibrahim Ali Jan, gave a Lecture entitled (The effect of pathogenic human bacteria on the self-healing of cement mortar). Through the lecture, she pointed out the effect of types of non-pathogenic bacteria, the pasteurization bacillus, on cement mortar to protect it from corrosion. They reveal enhanced sample surface protection with the addition of an appropriate concentration of calcium and urea to the mixture.

Within the activities of the cultural season of the Environmental Research Center, Dr. Hussein Al-Aibi Zamil, a teacher, gave a lecture entitled (Groundwater Pollution, a Case Study), where he touched on the role of groundwater as a primary source of drinking water, agriculture, and industry in many regions. Through the lecture, he referred to the study of the Dabdiba Reservoir, which is located in The southernmost part of Basra Governorate in Iraq, where geological survey operations were conducted in the area, and hydrogeological and hydrochemical information was investigated and obtained from a total of (86) wells spread in the area. The quality of the groundwater in the reservoir was saline to very saline, as the results indicate that it is not possible to use this Water for humanitarian or agricultural purposes, although farmers in the region use this water for agriculture and raising livestock and poultry due to the characteristics of the soil in the region.

Within the activities of the cultural season of the Environmental Research Centre, the assistant teacher of Marwa Khaled Razak gave a lecture entitled (Synthesis of nanoparticles and silver with the use of the syx of the synthe plant and the study of their effect on the models of the methylation of genes that make up the biofilms in the pseudo-Aerospra). Through the lecture, she showed how to treat the pseudo-Aeronacula bacteria with silver nanoparticles, then the analysis of the methylation of the pslA and pslB gene catalysts using the treatment of then MS-PCR and that the silver nanoparticles stop the excessive methylation of the pslB gene catalyst, which may explain the decrease in gene expression after treatment with these nanoparticles.
