Within the activities of the cultural season of the Environmental Research Center, Dr. Hussein Al-Aibi Zamil, a teacher, gave a lecture entitled (Groundwater Pollution, a Case Study), where he touched on the role of groundwater as a primary source of drinking water, agriculture, and industry in many regions. Through the lecture, he referred to the study of the Dabdiba Reservoir, which is located in The southernmost part of Basra Governorate in Iraq, where geological survey operations were conducted in the area, and hydrogeological and hydrochemical information was investigated and obtained from a total of (86) wells spread in the area. The quality of the groundwater in the reservoir was saline to very saline, as the results indicate that it is not possible to use this Water for humanitarian or agricultural purposes, although farmers in the region use this water for agriculture and raising livestock and poultry due to the characteristics of the soil in the region.
