As part of the activities of the cultural season of the Environmental Research Center, Assistant Engineer Russell Ali gave a lecture entitled (Improving a skin product by adding a polymer), where she discussed how to make a burn cream with simple natural materials and herbal extracts that are useful in treating burns in a short period of time, given that natural herbs have been used in ancient medicine and are known for their capabilities. In addition to introducing polymeric materials into it, given that the human body contains polymers inside it, as well as reducing the amount of chemicals found in industrial and imported products, so that it can be used by many groups who have sensitive skin or who have eczema and many skin diseases

Within the activities of the Environmental Research Center to introduce the various environmental phenomena that directly affect the increase in global warming, our center organized a workshop entitled (Greenhouse Gases and Air Quality) on 5/13/2024, delivered by Assistant Professor Dr. Rana Riad Khalil.
The workshop opened with introductory words about greenhouse gases, what these gases are, where they are found, what their importance is, as well as the reasons for their existence, as they consist of water vapor resulting from the evaporation process.
Carbon dioxide (CO2) resulting from fuel combustion and smoke emission sources such as car exhausts, factories, forest fires...etc. Nitrous oxide, N2O, Ozone, O3, Methane, CH4, which is produced from livestock. Chlorofluorocarbons (CFCs), a substance that was used to cool refrigerators. The greenhouse gases that cause global warming are a source of danger to public health, and they also pose a threat to climate change in general and warming. At the conclusion of the workshop, there were several Recommendations, the most important of which are maintaining the safety and cleanliness of the environment and protecting it from various pollutants

Environmental education for the community and alerting it to the dangers of pollution and its harm to human health. Therefore, I suggest that there be a curriculum for environmental education and the importance of preserving the environment, and that it be a mandatory curriculum for all students starting in the intermediate stage.  
Increase green agriculture in and around cities. Therefore, I suggest planting a green belt around the city of Baghdad and the rest of the other cities. This belt is chosen from local plants and trees with continuous greenness and tolerance to harsh environmental conditions such as heat and drought.

As part of the activities of the cultural season of the Environmental Research Center, assistant lecturer Ola Hamid Mahmoud gave a lecture entitled (The effect of irrigation patterns on the properties of clay minerals in rice farm soils in the Middle Euphrates governorates), where she shed light on silicate clay minerals from a scientific and applied point of view, the most important component of the soil. The other, because it is the most effective component after organic matter, and the chemical, physical and fertility characteristics of the soil are often determined by the type and quantity of clay minerals in the soil.

In order to obtain an ideal and integrated management of laboratory chemical waste and to improve its environmental reality, the Environmental Research Center held a workshop entitled (Chemical Waste Management in the Laboratory Environment) delivered by Assistant Professor Dr. Azhar Mahmoud Halim, Head of the Environmental Technologies Department at the Center. The workshop addressed several topics, the most important of which is the definition of hazardous chemical waste. And their classification and integrated management, as safety and security considerations in the purchase, transport, handling and disposal of chemical waste must be among the priorities when preparing an integrated management system for these materials due to their high toxicity, great effectiveness, or ability to flammable. Therefore, a set of strict rules must be established to deal with them. Within a laboratory environment.

Within the activities of the cultural season of the Environmental Research Center, Assistant Lecturer Ali Nasser Ali gave a lecture entitled (Integration activety of biological control agents Trichoderma harzianum and Pseudomonas fluorescens and chelating iron on controlling wilt disease in pepper)
In his lecture, he touched on how to isolate pathogens associated with wilt symptoms from pepper plants. He explained in his lecture that all the treatments used were effective in reducing the rate and severity of infection by the pathogenic isolate. Treatment with the three factors combined in the presence of the pathogen achieved the highest significant difference in reducing the rate and severity of infection. An increase in the fresh and dry weight of the root and vegetative systems was also recorded, in addition to an increase in the total chlorophyll content of the plant.
