Ozone Layer, its Importance and Risks of Depletion

As part of the cultural season of the Environmental Research Center, Asst. Lecturer Taleb Kamel gave a lecture entitled "The ozone layer ... its importance and the dangers of depletion" on Wednesday 4/4/2019, where the lecture summarized the following:

The ozone layer is part of the Earth's atmosphere, which is heavily concentrated at the bottom of the stratosphere.

The ozone layer plays an important role in our lives. It absorbs ultraviolet rays and allows a small amount of radiation to reach Earth, and thus protects the earth and organisms from high-energy cosmic rays, which cause many diseases such as skin cancer, Respiratory, and nervous system disorders.

The protection of this protective shield and its non-depletion is necessary for the continuation of life on the planet so requires international efforts to save it and work to reduce all the causes gradually that lead to depletion.

Therefore, spreading the health and environmental awareness of the importance of the ozone layer contributes to the preservation of this shield and protector of life on the surface of the globe.
